ABOUT JESM

Our Mission

The Journal of Emerging Scholars in Medicine (JESM) is a high school and undergraduate-focused academic journal dedicated to making the publication of scholarly medical research accessible at an early stage in a student’s academic career.

Many students are eager to engage in medical research during high school and the early undergraduate years. However, the initial steps into research and academic publishing can be difficult to navigate. This is rarely due to a lack of ability, but rather limited access to clear methodological guidance and credible publication opportunities.

JESM exists to bridge that gap by providing a supportive yet rigorous academic platform where early researchers can develop scholarly writing skills, engage with evidence-based methodology, and contribute meaningful work to the medical and health sciences community.

What We Aim To Do

  • Provide a credible, peer-reviewed publication platform accessible to beginner and early-career researchers
  • Introduce students to research methodology through real academic standards
  • Promote early research in the field of medicine and health sciences
  • Prepare students to present at conferences, apply to research programs, and pursue future publication opportunities
JESM is not intended to compete with top-tier medical journals. It is an educational journal built to help early researchers develop the skills needed to succeed in high-impact academic publishing.

Our Team

JESM is founded and run by undergraduate researchers who have presented at national and international research conferences and actively work in biomedical and clinical research.
